Set Specific Goals
Writing a research paper is a lot easier on you, the student, when you set yourself certain goals. All of this takes place before you start the research and the writing. The saying goes that if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail. So rather than rushing in to begin writing your research paper, stop, take stock of the situation and list your goals. Here are a few possible specific goals.
- set up a timetable
- create an ideal topic
- create an ideal thesis statement
- become an expert note taker
- create an outstanding plan
Basic Instructions On How To Conclude A Research Paper
Many students, when they create a research paper, tend to focus more on the information that they introduce rather than on the composition itself. Even if this is one of the basic requirements of this type of essay, there are many other elements that need to be taken into consideration. For an elaborate paper, you need to have fresh, interesting information, to be able to sustain valid arguments and to put all this in an attractive, understandable shape. Even if you use academic language, it will not worth much without enough information. Therefore, you need to keep a balance.
- Pick a topic that can offer you enough information to work with. Don’t go for the easy, simple notions because they are already used by everyone else, and they will not count for much in front of your teacher.
- Make research. This is one of the most important parts of this entire process, so take your time and go for unusual sources. A magazine that you wouldn’t usually read can actually be very helpful for a certain topic. Also, websites on the Internet are full of interesting data that you can use in your composition.
- Make a statement. This means, basically, that you will write down the topic and the purpose of your research paper. It does not have to be longer than a few lines, but it needs to be very explicit.
- Create an outline. You will build your entire paper starting from this structure, so make sure that all the chapters are representative for the information, and you did not use any vague words. Also, arrange them in an attractive order and make sure the composition looks natural and fluent.
- Start writing. When you write your first draft, you don’t have to stop every few minutes to correct a small grammar mistake; you have time for this later. For now, just write everything you know and use all your creativity and imagination.
- Create a conclusion. It is important to state what were the results of your research paper, a summary of the research methods that you used, and any other detail that could help the reader understand better what is your outcome.
- Edit, correct and then proofread. When you feel that you have nothing more to add to the first draft, you can start to make the editing. This will be the part that will take the longest time, but it is the most important one. Once you finished with the content itself, proofread it and correct the grammar and punctuation.
